I'm not sure how to explain it, but i love this quote
"Imagination is more important than knowledge."
"I want to know God's thoughts; the rest are details."
I've always thought of him as a square mathematician that denies the existence of God. Well, i haven't researched or read up on him long enough to know for sure that he's this or that, but from his quotes, he's just not what i expected. I feel at least, from his quotes (which i might be wrong for) that he believes Science doesn't explain everything. Yet it doesn't explain nothing.
I personally find Science (whichever branch of it) quite interesting. For Physics, i see the laws of Physics and how everything has it's balance, how God created it. Gravity pulls us down but doesn't crush us. Energy can never be destroyed or created but only changed- into what, is the amazing thing (at least for a nerd like me la).
God created the world, yes this i know my whole life. But now i see how intricate, delicate, precise and complex everything is, which just puts me in awe of His power again.
Mathematically, it's tough but for almost every equation whether addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, etc, there's always an answer.
I don't know why but i find the fact that a bunch of numbers that add up, in a sense, really.. amazing. I know la, i get amazed easily :P
And also the intricacy in humans that we learn in Bio. I'm (again) very amazed (i should find a synonym for this word) that a uterus wall has to break down every month just for a newborn. In a sense that, God created us in such a way that our body's uterus wall breaks down every month just to prepare a new home for each foetus.
Such care and delicacy in how we come into this world. And also for Chemistry. Well i'll think of something about that, because Chemistry and i have a strained relationship right now. We just can't communicate, i don't understand its 'Esters' and hydrocarbons and it just won't simplify things for me.
Back to Einstein;
His hair kind of speaks volume to me too, in that he doesn't give much care to what people think about him.
Quotes from Albert Einstein
"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction."
"The hardest thing in the world to understand is the income tax."
"Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one."
"The only real valuable thing is intuition."
"A person starts to live when he can live outside himself."
"God is subtle but he is not malicious."
"God does not care about our mathematical difficulties. He integrates empirically."
"Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character."
"I never think of the future. It comes soon enough."
"The eternal mystery of the world is its comprehensibility."
"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new."
"Great spirits have often encountered violent opposition from weak minds."
"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it."
"The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources."
"The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education."
"Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding."
"Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school."
"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing."
"Do not worry about your difficulties in Mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater."
"If A is a success in life, then A equals x plus y plus z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut."
"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."
"No, this trick won't work...How on earth are you ever going to explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as first love?"
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."
"Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts." (Sign hanging in Einstein's office at Princeton)

Lately i've been inconsiderate in my opinion ): But today kind of hit me with what my friend said and a tragedy i found out about and also a lot of other things added up together.
I know it's so cliched and also such a late epiphany, but there are larger things at hand happening everywhere around me. I'm just selfish to think that what i'm facing is big enough for me to ignore every other problem others face.
And no, this is not one of those "Oh-woe-is-me-pity-me" things.
I admit that i talk too much, complain too much and also always talk before i think. Mot a good combination and yes, im not proud to say that i have a short fuse. (i'm pretty sure that my friends and family already know that. And yet they're still beside me, that says something) But i'm going to try and hold my tongue. Wish me luck. This seems harder than Add Maths ): Though it's not. But it feels like it. But it shouldn't.
Okay nevermind, i should go bathe after cleaning the drain today. DID I MENTION I FINALLY FINISHED A RUN IN YEARS?! 1.5km baby! But i did pant like no tomorrow after that.
Oh yes, and Char Lie & Char Nie organised a clean up for our school field which a number of people participated in today :) Awesome stuff! Something else that's equally awesome? CENDOL. CENDOL. CENDOL.
I should really get to that bath.
